Lately the internet has been filled with neck beard memes, creating a negative stigma around the infamous facial hair style.

Yes it’s true, neck beards are not only extremely unattractive, but they are also frowned upon within the beaded community.

I am not saying that it is impossible to rock a clean looking neck beard, however, I am stating that most people find them unsightly and you should attempt to avoid them at all costs.

I am sure you are wondering “well what the hell do I do if I can only grow a neck beard and I hate clean shaving?”

Whether you are looking to clean up that beard neckline or wondering how to shave your neck beard, the Newmen writing crew has provided you with a 7 step guide to help get you on your way!

Below are 7 easy steps that will help you turn your neck beard from cringeworthy to suave.

Step 1: Wash Your Beard

When you wash your beard you are actually removing the all the waxes, balms, and oils that you had applied prior.

Washing your beard, believe it or not, helps return your facial hair to its natural state allowing you to style with a clean slate.

Step 2: Dry your beard

Whether it be a hair dryer, a towel, or some other means, make sure you dry your hair before cutting it.

You may not think this is that big of a deal but it turns out it is crucial when trimming or shaving your facial hair.

Wet hairs happen to be longer than dry hairs, thus when you cut your hair when it’s wet you may end up cutting more than you would like.

Never, and I mean NEVER, cut your hair when its wet.

Step 3: Brush or comb your hair

Once your beard is nice and dry, the next step is to brush, comb, or if you own a beard straightener, straighten your hair.

Doing this will allow you to remove any tangles and or kinks in your freshly washed beard, something that commonly happens after the drying phase.

Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, getting rid of those tangles and kinks.

Step 4: Figure Out Your Beard Neck Line

Once you have finished, it is time to understand where your neck line lies.

The most effective to establish one neck line is to find your Adams apple and place two fingers right above it in a horizontal position.

Where the top finger rests is essentially the lowest point of your beard. BOOM! There you have it… thats your neck line!

Step 5: Carefully Trim

Now that you have a general understanding of where your neck line is, use a hair trimmer or razor to trim all the hairs underneath your imaginary neck line.

Step 6: Wash And Shave Your Neck

Methodically rinse the area where you trimmed with warm water.

Once you’re done rinsing, apply a small amount of shaving cream and carefully shave your neck.

The shaving helps to remove any stragglers or random neck hairs that you missed while trimming.

Step 7: Sculpt Your Neck Line With More Precision

Grab your trimmer and go over your neck line once more.

Doing this at the end of the process allows you to shape the line with a clean slate. This final step helps you carve up your beard line to perfection.

Once you finish with the final detailing you are done!

Conclusion

Trimming up your beard is hard and most bearded men are hesitant to take the trimmer to their glorious beards.

However, regularly trimming your neckline is not only an import step for maintaining a well kept beard, but it is also vital when attempting to get rid of an unsightly neck beard.

If you follow the steps above I am certain that a neck beard will not be a problem and I assure your that your beard will look better than ever.
